Lean-to Conservatories

  • Lean-to conservatories are commonly installed in properties which are on the smaller side, such as bungalows. This is because the height of the conservatory roof is considerably lower than with other styles. Although they are often added to smaller houses, lean-to conservatories are incredibly polished and chic. They are a simple alternative to regular conservatories and can vary in roof pitch – shallow for bungalows and steeper for terraces. Although known for being small, you can have a large lean-to conservatory if you have the space in your garden for it. Either way, a lean-to conservatory will provide you with an impressive space that you can personalise to your heart’s content.

Choose to escape to a new room where you have beautiful views and lots of sunlight. Elegant and effortless, lean-to conservatories are highly versatile and help you soak up the sun even when it’s cold outside. Look forward to those beautiful sunsets and watching the golden light wash over your home as you host a dinner party in your new lean-to conservatory.

  • The Lean-to conservatory is the simplest style of conservatory, with clean lines that give it a contemporary look that make them a popular conservatory for modern houses. The simple shape gives you the maximum space in a highly economical style.

Whether your lean-to conservatory is traditional or contemporary, the style is perfect for properties that have restricted space under the eaves, like a bungalow, or have an area that’s too awkward to accommodate a conservatory. This is because the pitch of the roof on lean to conservatories can vary, so a shallow pitch can fit under a low bungalow roof and a steeper one would be ideal for a terraced house.

Do you need foundations for a lean to conservatory?

Foundations are required for lean-to conservatories. The foundation is needed to ensure your conservatory remains as stable as possible for many years to come. We will need to test what soil you have on your property prior to installation so we can prepare the specifics. Once we know the type of soil your home is settled on, we will know how deep to set the foundations. This means we cannot give you an estimate on the depth required to install a lean-to conservatory until we visit your home. However, if you want to discuss the process, please contact us.

What is the difference between a lean-to and a conservatory?

The amount of glass used is similar between lean-to and standard conservatories. Both conservatories bring you warmth and natural light, too. However, lean-to conservatories take up much less space than conservatories due to their smaller width. The larger scale of a standard conservatory gives you more design features, such as pitched roofs or bay fronts, whereas a lean-to conservatory is a standard rectangular shape. To learn more about what would be best for you, contact us for further information.

What is a lean-to conservatory?

Lean-to conservatories are a simple design of three perpendicular glazed walls, which are attached to one of your property’s existing walls. They are smaller in size than traditional conservatories but you have the choice between tiled or glass roofing for light and insulation. These are the alternative offering for those who don’t have lots of space for a standard conservatory.

They are also known as sunrooms and are seen as an elegant and simple extension of your existing home. They are liveable all year round, insulating the space to create a cosy and intimate nook that still feels like your home.

Why choose a lean-to conservatory?

Lean-to conservatories are flexible in terms of roof pitches, so you can find one to suit your property, whether shallow or steep. Additionally, they are perfect for homes with smaller outdoor spaces as lean-on conservatories do not extend as widely as other conservatories. The glass composition of these conservatories keeps the sunlight coming through, regardless of its smaller size. Aesthetically, lean-to conservatories are very modern. Clean lines and a minimalist design embrace a more contemporary design; as they say, less is more. Choose a lean-to conservatory if you want more indoor space without taking away from your garden.
